ACPA’s Annual Conference was held at the Hotel Watermark in Brisbane, Queensland, from 1st - 3rd October 2008.
47 delegates enjoyed the opportunity to meet up with Catholic
colleagues from around Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific to
discuss issues that are of common interest.
Among the delegates were 14 members attending their first conference who were made very welcome and who commented on the tangible camaraderie of the Association.
Whenever possible, the Association sponsors a Pacific delegate who may otherwise not have the opportunity to attend. This year ACPA was pleased to invite as guest delegate Mr Ivo Nainoka, Editor of the Fijian Catholic Monthly.
A highlight of the annual Conference is always the ACPA Awards for Excellence - and this year was no exception. The Awards were held at Oxley's on the River at Milton.
Guest Speaker and Presenter was Mr Sean Dorney. Sean is one of the ABC's most experienced and respected correspondents. He is an acknowledged authority on Papua New Guinea and author of two books on PNG affairs. Sean is currently the ABC's Pacific Correspondent.
